We lost Will tonight. He fought so hard for so long, but in the end there was just too much to fight. We love him so much and are heartbroken. We will miss him.

Mary, John, and your families - there are no words that can soothe the pain or fill the empty place. Just know that we love you, and we're here for you. Anything you need, just ask...354-0362.

And may your angel rest peacefully knowing he was loved by many and touched many hearts.

John and Mary:

Will was surely a fighter. His strength, and your strength, has inspired many, many people, including Melinda and me. Know that you are loved and prayed for as you mourn Will's passing, and that we mourn not just for you, but with you. We were all blessed for having known your little boy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I wandered over here a couple weeks ago (last week? it seems like forever...) from Eric Zorn's Notebook and fell in love with your little Will. I am heartbroken, and will keep your family in my thoughts.

Take care.

John and Mary,

Words cannot express how sorry we are for your loss. Will was a little fighter, and touched many lives in the short time he was here on earth. Now he is at peace and is one of God's little angels in Heaven. We have and will continue to keep you, and your families in our prayers.

I am so very sorry. There are a great many people who live long lifetimes and never touch as many hearts and spirits as your incredible Will has. He is an inspiration. He made a difference.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to meet him.

John and Mary,

We're so sorry to hear of your sad news. Your journey with little Will has a special place in our hearts. As with our son, this is another reminder of how the universe doesn't operate under the guides of justice and fairness. We've found, though, that love heals a lot and we wish that for you.

My name is Jenni and I'm a NICU nurse with Will's aunt Ann. I have been following his story from day one and am so sorry for your loss. Will was so lucky to have a caring family such as yours, and his memory will always live on through you. He is able to protect you now and his wonderful soul will shine down on you everyday. Please know that you are in so many wonderful hearts of people you don't even know and that mine in particular is breaking for you and your family. If you ever need to talk you can write to jen_crazy@hotmail.com. I wish you and your loved ones peace and sympathy.
Love,

Please know that in his short life, he has likely touched more people than the rest of us combined. I will light a candle tonight for Will.

John and Mary,
My heart is breaking for you. And while words seem so trivial right now, I will echo what many others have said: Little Will absolutely touched my heart. I made it a priority in my day to check his blog. I celebrated his triumphs and prayed for him during his lows. No one can imagine the pain you are feeling but everyone who has let Will into their lives is mourning along with you. Know that the love, hope and inspiration you and your family have shared leaves us all better people. Will will be held in more hearts than you can imagine. May this give you some peace.
God Bless.

Thank you for sharing your story with the world. I only know your name (John) from reading The Gazette and I recognize your name from the DI when I was in grad school. Your story is inspiring and heartbreaking. I wept for the loss of your beautiful boy. I know he will live in your hearts forever, though I also know that such platitudes are meaningless in the face of grief.

You are both beautiful writers and the blog you kept is a wonderful tribute to your beloved son.
